What studies tell us

Comprehensive water quality assessments of the Gilgit and Hunza river systems found physico-chemical parameters largely within WHO drinking water guidelines, with elevated total alkalinity characteristic of bicarbonate-type mountain waters.

High alkalinity arises because Karakoram rock contains substantial carbonate and bicarbonate minerals. As melt water percolates through these formations, it dissolves minerals — creating the profile Hunza Oxidane preserves at bottling.

Unlike reverse-osmosis purified water stripped of minerals then artificially re-mineralised, Oxidane retains the geological fingerprint of its source.
